Mark R. Dambro, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Mark R. Dambro has nearly 30 years of medical experience, complemented by firsthand knowledge of the challenges involved in aligning risk adjustment with care management. As the chief medical officer of CenseoHealth, he supports health plans and medical groups wanting to get more involved in this strategy. Many aspects of the interface between CMS, the health plan, CenseoHealth, and the practicing clinician require someone with experience in all these realms. Dambro provides both potential and existing clients a broad experience that they can draw upon – either as they just begin to understand risk adjustment or as they evolve a more mature project.
Dambro helped build a prospective assessment product for one of the first companies to become involved in this innovative risk adjustment strategy and helped teach dozens of practitioners the nuances of in-home health assessments. He has appeared at many national conferences to speak on topics addressing risk adjustment, care management, medication therapy management / Part D Star Rating strategies, and Star Rating and HEDIS measure tactics.
Dambro graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1979 and completed his residency and fellowship in Family Medicine. He was an assistant professor at the University of Arizona, participating in teaching and research activities before moving to Fort Worth and opening his medical office.
Before becoming involved in risk adjustment, Dambro founded and edited the "5 Minute Clinical Consult", an annually produced medical text. Published as a book and later for many platforms including Newton, iPhone, and Blackberry, the "5 Minute" was the first handheld, comprehensive, disease reference for the profession. Recruiting and managing the over 300 active authors became a passion for Dambro as the "5 Minute" grew in popularity.
