DALLAS – September 22, 2015 – Censeo Health LLC, an industry leader of physician-performed health assessment solutions which assist health plans to collect accurate data on their members for optimal care coordination, announces its preparedness for the transition from International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) to ICD-10.
As the nation transitions to ICD-10
coding on October 1, 2015, health plans and physicians continue to express concerns that it will take time to adapt to the new version of codes. ICD-10 codes, which provide greater specificity to better represent and communicate a patient’s clinical conditions, increased the number of diagnosis codes from 13,000 ICD-9 codes to approximately 68,000 ICD-10 codes.
When it comes to ICD-10 codes, CenseoHealth’s comprehensive health assessment, CenseoCareConsult
, can help ease the coding transition pains
for health plans. CenseoHealth’s CareConsult assessment can be pre-populated with member-specific medical history (claims history, pharmacy data, DME, etc.), giving the evaluating physician great insight into what the patient’s treating physician(s) have already diagnosed, information that may not always be available to each patient’s primary care physician. Once the CareConsult is complete and ICD-10 coded, health plans will have a more current and comprehensive medical record of their member, providing information needed by both the health plan and the member’s primary care physician to improve care coordination for, and provide preventative care services to, the member.
In preparation for the transition to ICD-10, CenseoHealth released several updates to its proprietary CareConsult assessment earlier this summer to improve the specificity of the evaluating physicians’ documentation, which will in turn allow CenseoHealth’s coders to document ICD-10 codes as accurately as possible. “All CenseoHealth coders have been thoroughly trained on ICD-10 coding. We are pleased to provide health insurance plans a dependable solution for accurate ICD-10 documentation as the industry transitions to this more rigorous, but more precise, set of codes,” said CenseoHealth’s Director of Quality, Joy Ridlehuber, RN, MSN, CPC.
